York Daily Tribune, December 2, 1905, Page 2. Panama. Dec. 1. — The Russian colony in Chiriqui has proved a failure. The government made, every effort to help the colonists, and the reason assigned for their failure is that they had incompetent directors. ————————
Fifty Russian families left Panama on August 30 for
Chiriqui, and arrangements were made by which the
same number of Russian families would be settled each
month in different parts of the republic. The government
was to give each family $300 and thirty acres of
land. |
