GCC Russian Club Constitution Article I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the "Glendale Community College Russian Club"
Article II. Purpose
The purpose of this organization is to stimulate a strong interest in the Russian people, to provide fellowship among enthusiasts of the Russian culture and language and to promote international understanding among the members.
Article III. Membership
Section 1. The members of the Glendale Community College Russian Club are to be students of Glendale Community College, Glendale Arizona. Members of the surrounding community are invited to attend as welcome guests. Only students of Glendale Community College may hold office.
Section 2. The members of this organization are to be interested in participating in, and promoting, activities to further knowledge of the Russian people and their culture.
Section 3. Active members are those students currently enrolled in Glendale Community College and those members of the surrounding community who have stated an interest in the Russian people, have given their name and address to the Russian Club, and have paid their current dues. Only students can be voting members.
Article IV. Election of Officers
Section 1. Elective officers are the president, vice-president, secretary, and treasurer.
Section 2. The term of office shall be two semesters.
Section 3. Officers shall be elected by a simple majority vote by active members present.
The date of such elections shall be announced to the members at least one week prior to the election.
Section 4. The president shall preside over the meetings and help in activities sponsored by the group. The president may appoint committees to aid in the conduct of activities and the maintenance of the organization.
Section 5. The vice-president shall be responsible for correspondence and serve as an aid to the president.
Section 6. The secretary shall record the business of the meetings.
Section 7. The treasurer shall be responsible for the funds accumulated.
Article V. Elections
Elections of officers are held during the second meeting of each semester.
Article VI. Meetings and Dues
Section 1. Meetings are held once a month.
Section 2. Each member shall pay dues of one dollar each semester. Monies shall be deposited with the campus cashier and be expended by requisition authorized by the club president or treasurer, college administrator, and college fiscal agent.
Article VII. Revisions and Amendments
Revisions and amendments may be made in this constitution by a two-thirds vote of the active members.
